I love it when authors interact with their readers. I’m very active on Rhys Ford’s blog. I stalk Dani Alexander’s website for news about Cai’s book (I don’t feel very optimistic, just hopeful at this point). I tweet and harass (very lovingly) Alexandr Voinov, Cat Grant, and some others. But hands down, Abigail Roux has this.
I spent the past two days looking through her Tumblr blog, and the woman is a machine. She engages her readers, not only through her writing, but through her interactions with them. She’s funny, witty, and her take-no-prisoners-or-their-bullshit attitude is very refreshing. She has literally created a Cut & Run universe filled with all her characters. It’s very easy to get sucked into that world and I’ll admit, I resisted. I’m still resisting but I can see my efforts are futile.
Reason #8 why my favorite author is better than yours: she doesn’t only write books about characters, she IS the characters.
I just finished re-reading Touch and Geaux and found the ONE gif that sums up the whole experience of reading this book. So, there you go:

I realized last night that the Nick & Kelly thing couldn’t have come at a better time, really. And Abi is awesome for letting it happen and encouraging it.
Because can you imagine what things would be like if all we had was the end of T&G to talk about for the next year?
*depressed face*
It’s like Nick & Kelly are helping to soften the blow and ease the wait for the next book by being sweet and awesome and fun and hot. They’re our own personal therapy.
True story. We’d be fucking miserable mourning the end of T&G, but now we have Nick and Kelly and we can obsess about them too. And it’s all kinds of excitement, cause it’s new and unexpected.
And I love Abi for having the patience to answer all those questions on TIR, cause honestly, that page is like therapy and comedy and cuteness all wrapped up in one. It’s like you can actually talk to them and it makes the whole C&R experience more real. Reason #5 why my favorite author is better than yours: she loves to torture us but somehow she loves to give us nice things even better. :)

I started out with nefarious purposes and it bit me in the ass.
1st: make us more attached to Nick?! Is that even possible?! I already love Nick to biblical proportions. So that ship (ha-ha-ha) has sailed.
2nd: does that mean we get to see Nick calling people “babe” in the next books?! Cause I’m totes on board with this game. It’s sort of like Danno in H5O. It’s cute and adorbs.
3rd: I love you, Abi. In a total I-m-your-fan-not-a-creep-kinda way. But still, love you. That is all.

“I know what I’m about to say probably isn’t what you want to hear, and I’m sorry. But I need to say it, regardless,” he said apologetically.
Sighing softly, Zane sat heavily beside his partner. It didn’t sound good, what Ty was hinting at……
Finally, Ty cleared his throat. “I don’t know how else to say it, Zane, so I’ll just come out with it,” he said quickly as he raised his head and looked at Zane with a stubborn set to his jaw. “Despite the desk work and the near-death experiences and the bullshit in the mountains….” He took a deep breath and blew it out heavily. “The last couple of months have been some good ones, and it’s solely because of you,” he told Zane slowly.
Zane raised one brow, surprised. But before he could think of anything to say, Ty shook his head.
“I like being able to wake up to you. I like knowing you’ll be there if I need you.” he continued, obviously uncomfortable with what he was saying but refusing to be deterred now that he’d begun. “I like being with you, Zane. And I’d like to keep that up now that you’re here,” he admitted shakily. He met Zane’s eyes determinedly. “I want you.”

Can I just take a moment to say that I love how his hair is beginning to get gray and this is so freaking sexy.
